Speculative Simulations

 

Speculative Simulations is a multimedia exploration of the emergence of Artificial Intelligence and our increasing reliance on technology. The work explores a future in which Artificial Intelligence becomes an extension of the body and acts as an axis mundi between humanity and an increasingly digital world. It also questions the changing perception of “What is ‘Real?’” or “How is the ‘Real’ created?” Using a process based on recursive simulations, a series of 3D printed sculptures were designed to mimic and emphasize artificially generated human forms. These pieces are then laid over a digitally simulated 3D landscape to artificially bridge the physical and digital divide of the screen. The uncertainty of emerging technologies and its effects continues to create tension in our modern climate and the juxtaposition of physical and digital elements invites the viewer to engage and speculate on these developments.
